Constable attempts suicide in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, July 8 (UNI) A 35-year-old police constable attached to the Karmad police station here, today allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison while on duty after a heated argument with his seniors.

Police sources said Kailas Namdeo Tupe had a heated argument with his senior colleagues. Angered by his insult, the constable allegedly consumed poison, which he had brought from a nearby shop.

He was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) by his colleagues.

Confirming the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Home) U J Chavan told UNI at the GMCH that he was looking into the matter.

Mr Chavan visited the GMCH and inquired about the condition of the police constable.

Meanwhile, constable's wife, Aashabai Tupe, has alleged that her husband was depressed for the Past few months due to the ill-treatment he had suffered from his colleagues and seniors. She claimed that such an unfavourable situation forced him to take this extreme step.

Speaking to this correspondent at the GMCH, she demanded an inquiry into the incident.

The doctors attending to the constable at GMCH said that it was the case of suspected poisoning and added that they would need to wait for the laboratory reports to confirm the same.
