Azad announces ex-gratia for blast victims, expresses anguish

Srinagar, July 8 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government today announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh for the next of the kin of the Kulgam blast victims, while the injured would be paid Rs 5000, an official spokesman said.

He said Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad directed Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to disburse Rs one lakh ex-gratia among next of the kin of those who lost their lives and Rs 5000 to all those who were injured in the attack in which five people, including a former National Conference MLA, were killed and scores injured earlier in the day.

Mr Azad visited Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) to enquire about the condition of thirteen seriously injured persons in a grenade attack on Ms Sakina Itoo's rally near Sufi Shrine of Kulgam.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Director General of Police, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and other senior officers.

He personally visited the room were Ms Itoo is being treated.

Doctors informed Mr Azad that Ms Itoo's condition is stable and out of danger and she is likely to recover soon.

He advised the medical staff to take all necesary steps for providing her the best treatment. The Chief Minister also met other injured persons admitted in the hospital.
