New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi will attend a conference, to be organised in Raipur in Chhattigarh in the third week of August, to thank the former for the proposed 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in institutions of higher learning.

The conference has been organised by the Chhattisgarh Rajya Pichhada Varg Sangathan(CRPVS), founded by Mr Jogi.

Mr Arjun Singh gave his consent to attend the conference as the chief guest when a delegation of the CRPVS met him here yesterday, according to a release issued here by Mr Suraj Nirmalkar, President of the organisation.

Mr Nirmalkar said Mr Jogi's objective had always been to promote the backward sections of people and Mr Singh was also striving for the same goal. "Hence this 'community of the downtrodden and backward sections' of people unitedly wants both the Congress leaders to be on the same platform." Though Delhi experienced fiery protest against reservations, Raipur saw demonstrations in favour of OBC reservation, he said.

Mr Nirmalkar pointed out the organisation has been nurtured by Mr Jogi. "When both have a common leader in Mrs Sonia Gandhi and when both the leaders(Arjun Singh and Ajit Jogi) are working for the same goal, there should be no distance between the two leaders," he added.
