26 injured as a matador falls into gorge

Bhaderwah, July 8 (UNI) At least 26 people of marriage party were injured, four of them seriously, when a vihicle carrying them skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Shappan in Doda district today.

Police sources said the driver of the matador apparently lost control over the vehicle which led to accident. All the injured including six women were rescued by the police and administration with the help of local people.

Police said four of the critically injured have been air lifted to Government Medical College Jammu. They were indentified as Niloo, Suresh Kumar, Joginder Singh and Pervej Ahmed. Rest of the injured have been admitted to Sub Division hospital here.

The ill fated matador was on its way to Bhaderwah from Ghati.

The police have registered a case into the matter.
