Train robbery near Gaya

Gaya, July 7 (UNI) In yet another case of train robbery, armed dacoits looted passengers of Puri-New Delhi Nilanchal Express early hours today near Banshinala station on Gaya-Koderma section of East Central Railway.

A passenger was shot at and injured when he tried to resist the criminals, government railway police said. Some 20 armed dacoits boarded the train in the guise of passengers at Koderma station and stopped the train before reaching Banshinala station on the Gaya route.

The criminals stripped the passengers off their valuables and cash at gunpoint and decamped with more than Rs 2.20 lakhs in cash, besides valuables worth of Rs 50,000, police added.

A passenger S K Sakir Ali from Sangmira Doga village of Midnapore district in West Bengal sustained bullet injuries when the criminals shot at him on being resisted. The injured person was shifted to hospital, police said.
