Traffic on NH 39 affected for third day

Imphal, Jul 7 (UNI) Traffic on National Highway 39 remained affected for the third day today due to a stir by Pallel Bazar Electricity Consumers Action Committee demanding electricity supply.

The residents of Pallel under Thoubal district stopped all the vehicles passing on the road and attacked those who tried to move.

The area has been deprived of electricity for long due to transformer break down.

People burnt effigy of Power Minister Francis Ngajokpa and closed all the shops protesting his failure to restore power.

Meanwhile, two bandhs called at Tamenglong district and Keithelmanbi Twineh River Re-sectioning JAC on the National Highway were called off after the District commissioners of the concerned districts stepped in to resolve the matter.
