Stern action against blade mafia: Home Minister

Kannur, Kerala, July 7 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said stern action would be taken against "blade mafias" in the state.

Inaugurating a welfare scheme of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopanasamithi at Parakkady, near here, he said the Government would take steps to get loans to small traders at low interest rate from co-operative societies.

Since merchants had a great role for the State's economic growth, the government would never take any step to harass them.

Mr Balakrishnan said the government had noted that some officials harassing merchants and if proper complaints were received action would be taken against them.

However, the Home Minister said that there was no question of reducing the taxes proposed in the State budget.
