Stanley Reservoir gets heavy inflows, discharge stepped up
Tiruchirapalli, Jul 7 (UNI) The Stanley Reservoir at Mettur across River Cauvery is continuously getting heavy inflows due to discharge of surplus water from the Kabini Reservoir in Karnataka.
State PWD sources told 'UNI' here the inflow into the reservoir was 33,203 cusecs this morning as against 29,209 cusecs yesterday.
The discharge was also stepped up to 18,000 cusecs since last night following demand from the delta farmers.
Meanwhile, the water level in the Stanley Reservoir -- the lifeline of the delta farmers -- had considerably increased in the past two days due to heavy receipts.
The level stood at 107.410 feet as against its full capacity of 120 feet.
From the Grand Anaicut in Thanjavur District, about 7538 cusecs of water was discharged into the River Cauvery, 4,050 cusecs into the Vennar, 3,004 cusecs into the Grand Anaicut Canal and 2,010 cusecs into the Coleroon River for irrigation under the turn system.
