Siddaramaiah likely to resign his MLA seat

Bangalore, July 7 (UNI) Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and All India Progressive Janata Dal State Presdient Siddaramaiah, who is all set to join the Congress, is likely to resign his membership of the Karnataka Assembly next week.

According to party sources, Mr Siddaramaiah, who had consulted his party leaders and workers in his constituency about the proposal to join the Congress, had decided to resign his Assembly seat of Chamundeshwari in Mysore district.

It may be recalled that the Congress had invited Mr Siddaramaiah to join the party after he played a major role in ensuring the victory of Congress nominee V R Sudarshan in the recent elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council. The suspended JD(S) leader had held one round of discussions with Congress President Sonia Gandhi in this regard and the Congress had invited him for the second round of talks.
