Sensex 45 pts up as midcap and smallcap surge
Mumbai, Jul 7: The BSE sensex today opened in the green by 45 points at 10,813.75 points as the midcap and smallcap sectoral indices surged in the opening move.
All the BSE sectoral indices except Banking sector were in green between 0.4 to 1.46 per cent.
Even the Asian benchmark indices were trading positive at 1200 hrs today. Stocks in Japan and South Korea rose between 0.4 - 0.7 per cent. However, Hong Kong and Singapore shares slipped into the red from green.
Major gainers on the index were- BHEL, Bharti Tele, Hindalco, NTPC, ONGC, and Tata steel all up between 1.50 to 2.39 per cent.
Besides the losers were- HDFC, ICICI, HDFC Bank, Ranbaxy, and Reliance Industries all down between 1.02 to 0.56 per cent.
