School headmaster nabbed while taking bribe of Rs 5,000
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, July 7 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths here today caught a school headmaster and a clerk of the Baliram Patil school red-handed, while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a mid-day meal contractor.
The ACB nabbed headmaster Mr Konkane and his clerk G B Pawar following a complaint filed by the contractor Gulabsingh Chavan where he stated that Kokane had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to release his payment of Rs 24,284 for supplying mid-day meal to the school, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP-ACB) Anil Rajput said.
The payment to Chavan was sanctioned by the Panchayat Samiti and a cheque was issued in the name of the school and the amount was laying with the State Bank of India's Cidco branch, Mr Rajput added.
However, the headmaster demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to clear the dues.
The duo was nabbed while the contractor was making the payment of Rs 5,000 as bribe to the clerk as told by the school headmaster.
