Saregama reports jump in net profit

Kolkata, Jul 07 (UNI) Saregama India Ltd, the entertainment company of the RPG group, has reported a jump in net profit from Rs 5.21 crore in year ended March 31, 2005 to Rs 8.87 crore in year ended March 31, 2006.

Total income has jumped by 18 per cent from Rs 100.87 crore in March 31, 2005 to Rs 118.87 crore in March 31, 2006.

Net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2006 was Rs 1.68 crore compared to Rs 1.24 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

Topline and PBT have showed a growth of 18 per cent and 85 per cent respectively over the previous year.

The company focused on the growing opportunities for its audio business in the emerging areas of new technological platforms like cell phones, internet and radio exploitation of content through publishing, it said in a statement.

The company had continued to strengthen its physical network to meet emerging opportunities in the retail space for its CDs and music cassettes.

The company's performance in its business done with five major international studios resulted in significant growth in sales through marketing of home videos and DVDs.
