Rs 64 lakh compensation for 1984 riot victims
Indore, Jul 7: About Rs 64 lakh compensation has been distributed among family members of those 18 who were killed in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
''Distribution of compensation to injured would begin in the next two days,'' riot relief incharge and joint collector Nilay Satbhaiya said.
An amount of Rs three crore has been approved for distribution among the affected people.
Information letters were dispatched to the families concerned to collect the compensation amount on a given date from the riot relief branch of the Collectorate office.
Riots broke throughout the country after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
