Rs 64 lakh compensation distributed to 1984 riot victims
Indore, July 7 (UNI) As the distribution of compensation to 300 people affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots proceeds, Rs 64 lakh compensation has been distributed to family members of 18 deceased.
Riot relief incharge and joint collector Nilay Satbhaiya said distribution of compensation to injured would begin in the next two days.
An amount of Rs three crore has been approved for distribution for the affected people.
Information letters were dispatched to the concerned families to collect the compensation amount on a given date from the riot relief branch of the Collectorate office.
Riots broke throughout the country after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Affected people during riots in Indore were being compensated.
