R N Das appointed Gujarat CIO

Gandhinagar, July 7 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma today administered oath of office to Chief Information Officer R N Das, a retired IAS officer of the 1971 batch of Gujarat cadre, at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan here.

Those present on the occasion included Chief Secretary Sudhir Mankad and senior officers of Gujarat Government.

Mr R N Das' last posting was as Food and Public Distribution Secretary with Government of India. He becomes the second CIO of Gujarat, the post which has been constituted under the Right to Information Act. He succeeds Mr P K Das who retired last month.
