Punjab govt asked to file afffidavit in Chauhan case
Chandigarh, Jul 7 (UNI) Justice Satish Kumar Mittal of Punjab and Haryana High Court today asked the Punjab government to file an affidavit if pro-Khalistan leader and former Punjab finance minister Dr Jagjit Singh Chauhan had previously been granted conditional bail in any case.
This was ordered during the resumed hearing on the plea filed by Dr.Chauhan seeking regular bail in connection with a case registered against him on March 9, 2006 at police station Nakodar district Jalandhar under section 124-A,153-A and 120-B IPC for carrying out seditious activities.
He has submitted that he was an eighty years old man and the police was unnecessarily harassing him on one or the other account.
Dr Chauhan was given interim bail and the police was restrained from arresting him.
