Police will not tolerate attacks on them: Deputy CM

Thane, July 7 (UNI) Deputy Chief R R Patil today warned that any kinds of attack on policemen would be replied with nothing less than a firing.

Mr Patil, who was in Bhiwandi this evening to review the situation, held discussions with senior police officials and political leaders.

Speaking to reporters later, he said the police will definitely nab the miscreants responsible for killing two policemen here two days back.

He said attacking policemen, even pelting stones on them, was a matter of concern and police will not tolerate it.

Without resorting to a lathi charge or other mild measure, they can take the extreme step of opening fire in such cases, Mr Patil said.

Regarding the dispute over the land, where the police station is being constructed, Mr Patil said relevant documents were being examined to check the veracity of the claims.

He was accompanied by Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and Maharashtra director general of police Dr P S Pasricha.
