Mysore, July 7: The city police today prevented the authorities of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise from performing Puja for starting work from the Mysore end of the 111 km Expressway of the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure corridor project.

The Police had already clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 Cr P C in and around the city as NICE was firm that it would carry on with the Puja as they had already paid the necessary fund to the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) to be handed over to the Mysore Urban Development Authority for the land acquired under the project.

MUDA officials obstructed NICE personnel to make arrangements for the ground breaking ceremony of the project from the Mysore end.

NICE Managing Director Ashok Kheny however told UNI that the company would go ahead with the programme. However the area had been barricaded by the police and NICE officials.

The eleven year old controversial project which saw a confrontation between NICE, the promoters, and the State Government was discussed in detail this week in the State Assembly and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had stated that the government would order a judicial probe into the entire project with the report to be submitted in two months.
