PMO denies rumours on Manmohan resignation
New Delhi, July 7: The Prime Minister's Office today denied rumours that Dr Manmohan Singh was contemplating resignation in the wake of his decision to put on hold all proposals regarding disinvestment in PSUs.
''There is no truth in such rumours,'' a PMO official said adding that ''these are baseless and speculative''.
Rumours going around in the share market and in the national capital were that the Prime Minister was unhappy about the developments in the disinvestment scenario and he may quit.
The decision to put all disinvestment decisions and proposals on hold was taken by Dr Singh yesterday after DMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi threatened to withdraw his party's support to the ruling UPA coalition over the disinvestment of the state-based Neyveli Lignite Corporation.
