Musician St Narayana Thirdha remembered
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Jul 7 (UNI) Glowing tributes were paid to Saint Narayana Thirdha, exponent of Carnatic music, on his 331st birth anniversary, at his birth place Kaza, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, District Judge Phanj Deo said the musician had put Carnatic music on the world map.
District collector G Vijayalakshmi recalled that Vasireddi Venkatadri Naidu, the then ruler of the area, had gifted 430 acres of farm land to the family in recognition of his services.
The doyen of Carnatic music, born in 1675 had migrated to Tanjore in Tamil Nadu and died there in 1745. He is respected as one in the league with the 'Carnatic Music Trinity'-- Thyagaraja, Shama Sastry and Muttuswamy Dikshitar.
Besides composing Krishnaleela Tharangam and Parijatha Apaharana he had authored several books in Sanskrit on music, Philosophy and Logic.
