Murder accused dies in Haryana jail

Jagadhri, Jul 7 (UNI) An ailing murder accused died in the Jagadhri sub jail, allegedly due to overdose of drugs or by consuming poison, police said today.

However, family of the undertrial Narendra Kumar disputed the official version and accused the police of torturing him to death.

The 26-year-old inmate, under trial for a murder case involving a land dispute last year, had fallen ill recently and was admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh. He was brought back to the jail after his condition improved, police said.

However, he was taken to the local civil hospital when his condition suddenly deteriorated. He was declared brought dead.
