Meghalaya CM assures student body and SPC condemns attack on scribe
Shillong, Jul 07 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J Dringwell Rymbai today assured the West Khasi Hills Students' Union to arrest the prepatrators for assauting one of its member.
Mr Rymbai made this assurance in a meeting with the students leaders of Ri-Bhoi Students' Union and Jaintia Students' Union in presence of the Director General of Police Mr. William Richmond Marbaniang.
On July 5 night, a group of masked attacked the Vice President of WKHSU Mebankit Syiemlieh causing him severe head injuries.
Talking to reporters, WKHSU president M Marngar said the Chief Minister had assured the student bodies that the police will soon arrest those persons involved for assauting the vice president.
Meanwhile, the Shillong Press Club in its meeting has unequivocally denounced the brutal assault on Mr. Philip Marwein, former President of the Shillong Press Club by unknown miscreants on July 5 night.
The members also viewed with concern the attack on his spouse as well and strongly urged the authorities to take immediate measures to apprehend the prepetrators.
