Life imprisonment for double murder

Hardwar, July 7 (UNI) The first fast track court of the additional district judge Mr Kanta Prasad sentenced an accused to life imprisonment last evening in a double murder case.

Sources said that Pappan and Sushil, residents of village Nathukhedi under Manglaur police station, killed their sister Sashi and one Madan Singh, residents of the same village on Sepetember 30, 1999 for their alleged illicit relationship.

Dheer Singh, brother of Madan Singh, lodged a complaint against the two accused.

After cross examining all the eight witnesses and in the light of evidences presented by the additional district government counsel Ashok Pundir, the fast track judge found Pappan guilty of double murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment under section 302 of the IPC and also imposed upon him a fine of Rs 5,000.

The other accused, a minor, had already been acquitted by the juvenile court in the absence of evidence against him, said the additional district government counsel.
