Hottest day and night in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 7 (UNI) Heat wave continued in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, as there was no sign of monsoon with both the minimum and maximum temperatures up by several degrees from normal.

Interestingly, the hill station and other tourist resorts remained by and large cold, much to the delight of tourists.

Srinagar today recorded the hottest day of this season so far with temperature soaring at 35.5 degree Celsius which was above five degree normal.

This has beaten the previous record of 33.5 degree Celsius which had been witnessed twice this season first on July two and then yesterday, but nearly four degrees less than the highest ever recorded on July 15, 1973 when the temperature went up to 39.5 degree Celsius.
