Gulbarga, Karnataka, July 7 (UNI) A section of doctors of the Government General Hospital here today boycotted duty in protest against the arrest of two of their colleagues on the charge of dereliction of duty.

Police Inspector Vijay Anchi told UNI that Dr Subash Buthale and his daughter Dr Rakshitha, a house surgeon, had performed laprotomy procedure on a nursing student Ramesh (26) on April 10. But, the patient developed infection and died on July 3 allegedly due to negligence of post-operative care.

On a complaint lodged by the parents of the deceased, a case was registered against the doctors and the doctors were arrested by the police. However, they were later freed on bail.

The agitating doctors converged in front of the hospital and demanded withdrawal of the case. They alleged that the doctors were made scape goats.
