GRSE takes Rajabagan dockyard

Kolkata, Jul 07 (UNI) Garden Reach Shipbuilders&Engineers Ltd, (GRSE) has acquired Rajabagan Shipbuilding Dockyard of Central Inland ater Transport Corporation Ltd (CWITC) in pursuance to the decision of the Central Government.

An agreement to this effect was signed between Rear Admiral TS Ganeshman,(Retd) Chairman&Managing Director, GRSE and Mr Praful Tayal, Chairman - cum-Managing Director, CIWTC, this week.

The acquisition of RBD with its dry docks, slipways and other shipbuilding infrastructure, is going to multiply the existing shipbuilding capacity of GRSE Ltd. to fully meet the requirement of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and other organizations contributing to the security of the nation.

A profit making Defence PSU over the years, GRSE has delivered sophisticated warships and crafts to the Navy and Coast Guard and has contributed towards the defence preparedness of the country.

With the increase in business, other ancillary industries have also benefited with orders and with the acquisition of RBD, the capacities of GRSE would increase manifold.GRSE can now claim to be the biggest Defence Shipyard in the country.

Describing the acquisition as a " momentous occasion" in the history of GRSE, its Chairman and Managing Director said it will not only enhance the capabilities of GRSE but also escalate the growth of warship building in the country.
