Ganga rising, east UP rain starved

Varanasi, July 7 (UNI) While rainfall continues to elude Varanasi and adjoining districts, Ganga river was rising at three places in the region.

Ganga was rising at Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Phaphamau, while it was declining in Varanasi and stable in Allahabad and Ballia, Central Water Commission sources said here today.

Among other rivers, Gomti was declining in Jaunpur and Sultanpur, while the Yamuna was stable in Naini (Allahabad).

Meanwhile, rain gods continued to elude the region with no rains being recorded during the last 24 hrs.
