From Belgium in search of mother

Coimbatore, July 7 (UNI) A Belgium-based woman has reached here along with her husband, children and friends in search of her parents and siblings.

Speaking to newsmen here, Ms Muthulakshmi (33) said when she was about six years, she and her mother Panchavarnam left for Kerala to meet her father working at a bamboo plantation.

Since they could not meet him, the duo embarked on a journey back home. However, both of them got down at Ambasamudram as they did not have money to go back to their native place.

Poverty forced them to live on the streets. Her brother and sister were living with their uncle. However, Panchavarnam disappeared when Ms Muthulakshmi was around seven.

A woman then admitted her to an orphanage from where a Belgium couple adopted her. Muthulakshmi studied nursing and later met Kim Smet whom she married. The couple has three children.

Showing Panchavarnam's photo to reporters, Muthulakshmi said she was confident her parents were alive.
