Four die in road accident in Orissa

Kendrapada, Jul 07 (UNI) Altogether four persons, including a teenaged girl, were crushed to death by a private bus near Padmapur chaak on the Cuttack-Chandabali road under Salepur police station today.

Police said while three persons died on spot, another succumbed to the injuries at SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.

The deceased were identified as Mayadhar Nayak (36), Surendra Nayak (50), Parikhita Das (45) and Mamuni Nayak (14).

While Mayadhar and Surendra were working in a Kazibazar based brass band, Mamuni was working as a singer in the band.

The mishap took place when Mayadhar was riding to Cuttack on his motor bike taking Surendra and Mamuni as his pillion riders. His bike collided with another the motorcycle of Parikhit Das, who was working in the local court.

All the four fell on the road following the collision and a speeding bus, coming from Cuttack, crushed them under its wheels.

Soon after the mishap, irate locals damaged the bus and staged road blockade on Cuttack-Kendrapara road near Padmapur chowk for few hours demanding compensation to the victims' family.

The Police have arrested the driver of the bus and sent the bodies for post mortem.
