DYFI holds protest on price hike
Chennai, Jul 7: Over 100 volunteers of CPI (M)-affiliated Democratic Youth Front of India (DYFI) were taken into custody by the police when they resorted to rail roko agitation near Saidapet and Basin Bridge Railway Stations in the city today.
DYFI sources said the rail roko agitation was in protest against the hike in the prices of essential commodities and petroleum products.
The sources said similar demonstrations were also held at 50 different centres in Tamil Nadu where hundreds of DYFI volunteers were taken into custody.
