Dr Hari Gautam appointed KGMU VC
Lucknow, July 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh governor T V Rajeswar today appointed former University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Hari Gautam as the new vice-chancellor of the King George's Medical University (KGMU) here.
Dr Gautam, a renowned cardiac surgeon, would take charge next week and hold office for the next three years.
According to a Raj Bhawan release Dr Gautam had served as the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) VC and was also principal of S N Medical collegein Agra.
He was also the president of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and worked as Director and Chairman, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences.
Earlier, he worked in Agra and Jhansi Medical colleges and conducted several open-heart surgeries, besides working in well-known medical institutions of the United Kingdom.
Dr Guatam will take the place of Dr Mahendra Bhandari, whose term as KGMU VC expired three months back Dr S K Agarwal was holding the temporary charge of the Vice Chancellor at present.
