Court issues NBW against Sehrunnisa
Mumbai, July 7 (UNI) A special court here issued Non-Bailable warrant (NBW) against Sehrunissa, mother of Vadodara Best Bakery massacre case withness Zahira, for her failure to surrender before the court today.
Sehrunissa was supposed to surrender as she was found guilty of perjury. Special court judge Abhay Thipsay had sentenced Sehrunissa to three months rigorous imprisonment for giving false evidence during the re-trials of the Best Bakery massacre case here.
Judge Thipsay today directed the Byculla Police to arrest Sehrunissa and produce her before the court on Monday as she failed to surrender herself.
Earlier in the day, Zahira's younger brother Nasibullah had told the court that his mother will present herself before the court at around 1530 hrs. However, neither Nasibullah nor his mother turned up later. Following this, Judge Thipsay issued the NBW. Judge Thipsay, while convicting Sehrunnisa, had suspended the sentence for a month to enable Sehrunnisa to challenge the decision before a higher court. Thereafter, her bail period was extended twice on health grounds.
