Copper prices on rise

Mumbai, July 7 (UNI) Following a fresh industrial demand, copper prices shot up today, according to traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange.

In ferrous section (per quintal) ; copper utensils and copper heavy prices increased by Rs 7,000 and Rs 2,500, respectively, while the rates of brass utensils and brass cuttings rose by Rs 500 each.

In non-ferrous section (per quintal), copper wire bars prices also rose by Rs 2,200 while that of zinc slab and lead ingots increased by Rs 500 and Rs 100, respectively. Tin slab and nickel cathode prices also went up by Rs five and Rs 40 per kg, respectively, on reduced stock supply.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 38,500, Copper utensils - Rs 37,500, Brass utensils - Rs 21,500, Brass cuttings - Rs 25,000, Aluminium utensils - Rs 10,300.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,200, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,100, Zinc slab - Rs 18,500, Lead ingots - Rs 6,200, Tin slab - Rs 480 (per kg), Nickel cathode - Rs 1,220 (per kg).
