Congress withdraws Dharna in Legislative Council
Bangalore, July 7 (UNI) Opposition Congress today withdrew its dharna in the Karnataka Legislative Council after the Government assured to table the report on illegal mining before the end of the current session.
The Congress members lead by leader of the Opposition H K Patil continued their protest in the well of the house when the house resumed this morning. However, Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy gave an assurance to table the report of U B Singh and requested the Congress members to withdraw the dharna.
Stating that the opposition would not be deprived of the information, Mr Shankarmuthy said the government could not present the report at this juncture as it was incomplete.
Officiating Chairman Sadananda Khot sought the opposition congress to resume their seat following the assurance from the Government, after which the dharna was withdrawn.
