China apartment block collapse kills at least two
BEIJING, July 7 (Reuters) A six-storey apartment block collapsed in central China today, killing at least two people and leaving an unknown number under debris, Xinhua news agency said.
The building collapsed at about 1 30hrs local time in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province. Pictures taken at the scene showed collapsed concrete girders and an arm protruding from a large pile of debris ''Rescue workers have found five people, two of whom have died,'' Xinhua said. ''It is not clear yet how many people were inside the building last night.'' Xinhua said authorities were investigating. A local official at the scene declined to comment when reached by phone.
