Birmingham accept Wigan offer for Heskey
LONDON, July 7 (Reuters) Relegated Birmingham City have accepted a bid of 5.5 million pounds (10.09 million dollars) from Wigan Athletic for former England striker Emile Heskey.
The player will now hold talks with the Premier League club, Birmingham said on their official Web site.
Wigan manager Paul Jewell believes former Liverpool and Leicester City striker Heskey would be a valuable acquisition.
''Emile is a proven performer at Premier League and international level and we have made what we consider to be a very good offer to Birmingham,'' said Jewell.
''I think he is a player who could do very well for us.'' Wigan will begin their second season in the Premier League by visiting Newcastle United on August. 19.
Birmingham were relegated from the top flight last season.
