Bangarappa insists on CBI probe into BMIC
Udupi, July 7 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party State President S Bangarappa today demanded that the State Government order a CBI probe into the acquisition of excess land for the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project, instead of the judicial inquiry announced by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Addressing a press conference here, he felt that the judicial inquiry would not bring out the truth about the officials and politicians involved in the scandal. It was nothing but an ''eye wash'', he alleged.
As the issue of excess land had been brought to the notice of the Supreme Court only while filing review petition, the Government had no legal hurdle in ordering a CBI probe into the issue, he opined.
Terming the marathon speech of the Chief Minister yesterday on the floor of the Assembly as ''nothing but an attempt to create a record,'' Mr Bangarappa said Mr Kumaraswamy had failed to state the terms of reference of the judicial inquiry and the details of the talks between himself and Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Managing Director Ashok Kheny.
He said the party would organise four divisional conferences in September, which would be attended by party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, General Secretary Amar Singh, party MPs and actors Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan.
