AP receives good inflow in Krishna

Hyderabad, July 7 (UNI) Bringing cheers to ryots in Andhra Pradesh, the authorities in Karanataka discharged huge quantities of water from its reservoirs Almatti and Narayanpur across the perennial river Krishna following good rains in the catchment areas in the upper riparian state.

The Irrigation officials in Karantaka let out from Almatti and Narayanpur 1.63 lakh cusecs and 1.79 lakh cusecs with the levels in the two reservoirs standing at 1695.85 ft and 1609.85 ft respectively expecting fresh inflows from Maharastra, official sources here said.

As a result, 1.32 lakh cusecs was realised at Jurala and 52,467 cusecs at Thungabhadra, they said, adding that 1.32 lakh cusecs was received at Srisailam where the level was 816.70 ft, as against the full level of 885 ft. After hydel power generation, 55, 138 cusecs was let out downstream.

As much as 7,494 cusecs was released from the Nagarjunasagar, where the level stood at 545.90 ft, as against full level of 590 ft with an inflow of 55,138 cusecs, for farm operations in the Krishna delta region, they added.

The level in the river Godavari at the temple town of Bhadrachalam came down to 41.90 ft this evening from 43.90 ft.

The level at Dowleswaram Barrage in Rajahmundry was maintained at 11.70 ft by letting out 9,60 lakh cusecs into the sea, the sources added.
