Action against Mir only after proved guilty: J
Srinagar, July 7 (UNI) The Congress in Jammu and Kashmir today said the party will take action against former Minister and sitting legislator Ghulam Ahmed Mir only after proved guilty by the court in the sex racket case.
In an interaction with journalists here, state Congress President and Haj and Auqaf Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said the Jammu and Kashmir government had handed over the sex racket case to the CBI immediately after the scandal surfaced in the Valley.
''Besides, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court is also monitoring the investigations into the case by the CBI. If he (Mir) is proved guilty, we will definitely take action against him,'' he added.
Mr Sayeed said everybody has the right to defend himself. The law is equal for everyone, he added.
The state Congress Chief said the entire country has complete faith in the CBI.
''The party will not take action against him unless proved guilty,'' he added.
