Water level in Godavari increases by .3 inches
Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh Jul 6 (UNI) Water level in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam is steadily increasing by point three inches per hour, according to Central Water Commission (CWC) Junior Engineer P S N Murthy.
Talking to UNI here today, he said the water level in Bhadrachalam was 44.4 feet at 0900 hours.
Mr Murthy said the increase in the flood level would continue and if there were no rains at the upper reaches, the level would recede automatically.
Following the water level increase in Godavari, all the 175 gates at the Dowleswaram barrage were lifted and 5.27 lakh cusecs of water was let to sea at noon, said K Muralidhar, Executive Engineer, Godavari Headworks (Dowleswaram).
Mr Muralidhar told UNI that apart from this, 11,000 cusecs of water was being let to eastern, western and central Deltas.
