Showcause notice issued to "erring" MLA

Patna, July 6 (UNI) The BJP today issued showcause notice to the party MLA Avanish Kumar Singh who allegedly misbehaved with Bihar Transport Commissioner Pancham Lal inside his official chamber a few days back.

State BJP general secretary Giriraj Singh quoting media reports in the showcause notice had asked Mr Singh to clarify his position within seven days.

An FIR had already been filed with Shastrinagar police station in the state capital against Mr Singh and RJD MLA Babloo Deo for reportedly roughing up Mr Lal and threatening him with dire consequences if he did not revoke the suspension of a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Arun Tiwari.

State RJD president Abdul Bari Sidiqqui said that police were investigating the matter and the party was not fully aware of all facts so far. He said the party had not received any complaint from the aggrieved party so far and the information base of the party on this count was limited only to media reports.

He said the party would, however, seek an explanation soon from party MLA, Mr Deo, for his alleged involvement in the incident.
