School boy returns home under mysterious circumstances
Tiruchirapalli, July 6 (UNI) A 13-year-old school boy Riwan Adhil, who was reported missing on July four on the way home from his school had returned under mysterious circumstances last evening.
Police said based on a complaint from the boy's parents, a special police team was formed to trace the boy, supecting kidnapping. The parents alleged that they had received anonymous calls from the kidnappers, demanding a huge ransom. The calls were traced to a public telephone booth at the central bus stand at Tiruverambur.
Raids were conducted at several hotels to trace the boy, but their efforts went in vain. However, the boy himself rang up his parents yesterday and informed that he was kidnapped by some unidentified persons in a van.
The boy said the kidnappers had given him Rs 50 and later sent him to Trichy in a bus from Thanjavur.
The boy, who was brought to the Edamalaipattipudur police station, was interrogated by the senior police officials.
The interrogation team was yet to find out whether the boy was really kidnapped or a drama enacted by him, police added.
