Rajasthan reels under heat and humidity

Jaipur, July 6 (UNI) The whole of Rajasthan except Udaipur and Kota division is reeling under extreme heat and humidity with reported 26 heat related deaths from various parts of the state.

Slight rains have been reported from Barmer, Kota and Jodhpur today morning. The maximum temperature of the state capital was recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius today while the minimum hovered around 27 degrees Celsius.

Around 26 people have died due to extreme heat wave conditions in different parts of the state including 10 in Jaisalmer, seven in Jodhpur, seven in Jalore and two in Pali during the last 24 hours.

The temperatures hovered around 45 and 46 degrees Celsius in Barmer and Jaisalmer resectively yesterday, which is highly unusual in July.

In Jaisalmer, the District Collector in an order has cancelled the holidays of all government doctors and nursing staff. Schools and colleges in the city are open only for half day and the administration has been asked to monitor the situation.

The rising temperatures have hit the normal life in Jaisalmer.

The morning temperatures have shown a rise of six degrees Celsius.
