Power theft to the tune of Rs 240 crore a year in Kerala

Palakkad, July 6 (UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today said the government would constitute squads in all districts to detect power theft in the state.

Speaking at a meeting of KSEB Officers' Association here, he said power theft to the tune of about Rs 240 crore was taking place in the state a year and only 25 to 45 per cent of them could be detected.

Mr Balan said public awareness was needed to wipe out power theft.
