Poet Thirunallur Karunakaran passes away

Kollam, July 5 (UNI) Noted poet Thirunallur Karunakaran died at his residence at Anchalamoodu in the district after a prolonged illness today.

He was 82. He is survived by his wife two sons and two daughters.

As a sympathiser of Left movement, he had worked as the Chief Editor of Janayougam weekly from 1980 to 1994, published by the CPI.

Mr Karunakaran started his career as Malayalam tutuor in S N College and later worked as a teacher in Government Arts College and University College.

He had won several awards, including Vayalar award and Aasan award for his collection of poems ''Thirunellur Karunakarente Kavithakal'' and Moolur award for ''greeshmam''., collection and Mulur award.
