PM reviews draft notification on new EIA guidelines

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today reviewed the draft notification on New Environmental Impact Assessment guidelines.

''The Prime Minister asked us to come back after doing some more work on a few specific points,'' Environment Secretray Pradeepto Ghosh told UNI.

He said the draft presented to the Prime Minister incorporated the comments of the public and experts. It had been put for eliciting the views of stakeholders and general public last year itself.

A team from the Ministry, led by Mr Ghosh, also made a presentation to the Prime Minister on the occasion.

The guidelines have been revised in line with the recommendations of the Govindrajan Committee.
