One Palestinian killed in clash with Israel troops

BEIT LAHIYA, Gaza, July 6 (Reuters) One Palestinian was killed in fierce fighting between Israeli troops and militants in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya today, medics said.

They said it was unclear if the victim was a gunmen or a bystander. The Israeli army said one soldier had been lightly wounded by gunfire.

The fighting broke out after Israel sent tanks and armoured vehicles into the area to quell rocket attacks on the Jewish state.
