Pathanamthitta, July 6 (UNI) Opposition Leader in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today said that the decision of the LDF Government not to repromulgate the Goonda Ordinance was a "foolish" step. He dismissed as baseless the propaganda that the Ordinance might be misused by the police.

Mr Chandy was talking to reporters at Pullad after visiting the house of Chattakulath Remadevi, who was murdered recently.

He said the previous UDF Government had made it mandatory to constitute an advisory body comprising three sitting judges to examine the FIR filed by the Police under the Goonda Ordiance.

The decision of the Government to exempt the State from the implementation of "Headload Workers Act" would create apprehension among the potential investors in the industrial sector.

Claiming that the previous UDF Government had taken up several projects for the development of Sabarimala, he wondered that the very CPI(M) that opposed the "Ecosmart" which was named by the Centre for preparing the Sabarimala Master Plan in the past, had been arguing for it now.
