Monsoon not so 'soon' in UP
Lucknow, July 6 (UNI) The arrival of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh, which is already delayed by at least a fortnight, is not likely set in before Saturday.
So far, the weak monsoon conditions have resulted in deficient rainfall in the state making the climate hot and humid.
''Deep depression in the western region and low pressure build up along Orissa has scuttled the vital moisture feed required for rainfall in UP,'' met office sources said here today.
However, some places including Faizabad, Lucknow and Gorakhpur received light thundershowers in the last 24 hrs making the temperature dip by a few notches. Ayodhya recorded 10 mm rainfall.
Jhansi in the Bundelkhand region remained the hottest place in UP registering mercury at 38 degrees Celsius.
In the next 24 hrs, sporadic rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places.
The problems of the people is compounded by the prevailing power crisis, forcing authorities to resort to rostering at most places.
