Minister inaugurates telemedicine nework at Hospital;
Hyderabad, Jul 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Health Minister K Rosaiah today inaugurated the digital library, telemedicine, and HDR brachytherapy units at the state-owned MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre here.
The MNJ institute established the telemedicine network facility with the help of ISRO.
The network would be useful to provide consultation services for the less developed centers and for patients in remote areas, according to Director of the Institute, Dr B N Rao.
He said the network facility ,the first-of-its-kind in Andhra Pradesh, could also be utilized for training and human resource development in the area of the cancer control.
The existing library of the institution had been reorganised into a digital library to enable the faculty and students to gain access to the journals and periodicals from all over the world through networking.
The state-of-the art, high dose rate(HDR) Brachytherapy unit was procured and installed at a cost of Rs 1.07 crore for the benefit of cancer patients.
